How To Make Masala Chaas | Buttermilk Masala Powder At Home | Masala Chaas Recipe In English


When summer comes, everybody required a drink after the completion of lunch that is one and only masala chaas. Masala chaas makes from curd or buttermilk and some spices. Its is special drink everyone should consumed after lunch everyday to gets some health benefits. Chaas is refreshing and also good for digestion. Everyone should easily make it at home. Preparation of masala chaas is very simple and easy. So let’s make masala chaas in a simple way.

Ingredients :

  • 1 Tablespoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  • ½ Tablespoon Coriander Seeds (Dhaniya)
  • 1 Tablespoon Fennel Seeds (Saunf)
  • 5 to 6 Cloves (Laung)
  • 10 to 12 Black Pepper (Kaali Mirch)
  • ½ Tablespoon Carom Seeds (Ajwain)
  • Salt to taste (Namak)
  • 1 Teaspoon Black Salt (Kala Namak)
  • 200 ml Curd (Dahi)
  • Green Chilli Paste (Hari Mirch)
  • Fresh Coriander Leaves (Hara Dhaniya)
  • 500 ml Chilled Water (Thanda Paani)

Step By Step Instructions:

  1. Roasting
  • To make masala chaas, firstly we make masala for that.
  • For masala, heat a skillet or pan and add 1 tablespoon cumin seeds, ½ tablespoon coriander seeds, 1 tablespoon fennel seeds, 5 to 6 cloves ( Laung ), 10 to 12 black pepper, ½ tablespoon carom seeds.
  • Roast all the ingredient for a minute and keep it aside to cool completely.
  1. Grinding
  • After roasted ingredient cooled down, transfer it to the mixture pot and add salt to taste also add some black salt to enhance the taste of chaas.
  • Grind it to the fine powder and that powder is used as a masala for masala chaas.
  • You can keep it in airtight container for long time and use it when you have to make masala chaas.
  1. Preparing Chilli Paste
  • Wash 2 to 3 green chillies with water and transfer it to the mixture pot.
  • Make a fine paste, you can add more green chilli as per your spice level.
  1. Chaas Preparation
  • To make masala chaas, take 200 ml curd ( Dahi ) in a bowl and add prepared masala, green chilli paste, fresh and chopped coriander also add 500 ml chilled water in it.
  • You can take fresh buttermilk instead of curd if available.
  • Mix all the ingredient together with the help of hand blender.
  • Here is your very simple and easy masala chaas is ready to serve.
  1. Serving
  • You can serve this refreshing masala chaas with lunch or after lunch.
  • If you required this chaas more chilled, then you can add ice cubes while serving.
